PANT et al: MANAGEMENT OF WASTE POLY VINYL CHLORIDE (PVC) THROUGH CHEMICAL MODIFICATION
نویسندگان
چکیده
This review presents a strategy for management of poly vinyl chloride (PVC) waste by chemical modification as a viable method. PVC contains chlorine as a source to attack by nucleophiles (Nu-) and resultant product can be used for various applications due to its conductivity, antibacterial and ion exchange properties. Prominently used Nuare I-, SCN-, OH-, N3 -, phthalimide anion and concentrated alkali solution in the presence of O2 as oxidants.

Poly(vinyl chloride) on the Way from the 19th Century to the 21st Century*
Despite all the technical and economic problems and the public discussions on the environmental dangers and hazards of chlorine chemistry, poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) is the second most produced plastic (with a worldwide capacity of about 31 million tons), placing after polyolefins and before styrene polymers. Presently, PVC production worldwide is growing at a rate of more than 4% per year. The...
متن کاملRemoval of Dilute Benzene in Water through Ionic Liquid/Poly(Vinyl Chloride) Membranes by Pervaporation
This paper focuses on the effects of the addition of an ionic liquid, 1-Allyl-3-butylimidazilium bis(trifluoromethane sulfonyl)imide ([ABIM]TFSI), which has a high affinity for benzene, into the poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) membrane on the pervaporation characteristics of the removal of benzene from aqueous solutions of dilute benzene. When aqueous solutions of 100~500 ppm benzene were permeated ...
متن کاملEffect of some additives on degradation of poly (vinyl chloride- co- vinyl
The thermal decomposition of 86 % vinyl chloride 14 % vinyl acetate copolymer wasstudied by the conductometry technique in the presence of nitrogen. The kinetics of stability andthermal degradation of vinyl chloride- co- vinyl acetate (PVC- co- PVAc) copolymer withcopper, copper oxide and tricalcium dicitrate (st) were investigated at various temperatures (150-180 oC ) in solution. The rate coe...
متن کاملKinetics of thermal de-chlorination of PVC under pyrolytic conditions.
Although PVC-containing wastes are an important potential source of energy they are frequently disposed in landfill. In thermal treatment processes such as pyrolysis and gasification, the presence of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC), a compound with 56.7% of chlorine, may cause problems concerned with environmental protection, as consequence of the formation of hydrochloric acid, chlorine gas and dio...
متن کاملPotentiometrie pH Response of Membranes Prepared with Various Aminated - Poly ( Vinyl Chloride ) Products *
The preparation and potentiometric pH response properties of membranes formulated with various aminated-poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-NH2) products are described. Products containing secondary and/or primary amino functional groups are obtained by modifying PVC with monoand/or diamines, respectively. Blank membranes prepared with either type of aminated-polymer exhibit nearly Nernstian potentiometr...
